It isn't HD so don't be surprised or disappointed that you can't see all of the glory of today's modern graphics software. Purchased this as a gift for my son in the military. Try teaming this up with an automotive power converter and a HDD cooling fan unit for ultimate portability and longevity of your xbox unit. In my opinion this item is well worth it's price. The compact screen is ideal for the gamer who doesn't have the room for a traditional monitor or wants/needs a highly portable gaming system. LCD screen is very clear and graphics effects are more than adequate.
I always felt like I had to be REALLY careful when folding the screen up or dowm. I realize that the curvey shape of the 360 presents some challenges for mounting a screen. I purchased the screen for use on a long car trip with the kids. The hooks that lock into the wireless mount points were a pain to attach and releas. I was alos disappointed to find out that My car DC/AC inverter was not powerful enough to run the 360 in the car. Previously we had good success with the original Xbox and its travel screen. The 360 screen has a beeter screen and speakers than the original verions, but the mounting system was much more fussy and didn't really hold as well.
Look to the customer photos shot by Damon for reference regarding cable layout. The headphone jacks are great. The viewing angle is hit or miss. Bottom Line: I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could. There is a spare smaller clamp for the right side of the unit. The review by Damon is nearly spot on. I just wanted to add and amend a few things. Core owners, you've been warned.
The picture quality is adequate but 480p does look clearer. Audio from either headphones or the speakers are quite clear; not surprisingly however, bass is not the monitor's forte. Views from above, below, or a side angle are all inferior. The convenience, thoughtful layout, and surprising clarity at 480p more that make up for the unit's flaws. For text heavy games like Oblivion, be SURE to adjust the monitor to avoid eyestrain. Pony up for a hard drive if you really want this. The NICE surprise is that the display is fully capable of 480p (852 x 480 Progressive Scan) Widescreen and there is a nice upgrade in clarity if you use the component cables that came with your XBox 360. This screen is meant strictly for solo play, as I could not envision split screen on this thing. Firstly, the connections are: Composite AV (regular old yellow/red/white AV connectors), S-Video, and Component HD (the RGB + Audio cables used for HD).
Text is only crystal clear from straight on, so you'll have to adjust accordingly. The monitor itself only comes with a short and thus convenient Composite AV connector. It is NOT meant for Core owners however, as the left clamp fits snugly around the hard drive. Don't try for 720p or 1080i as it will just whitescreen the monitor.
this product is really nice and if u figure out how to set it up just right is great,be carefull for some of the little pins on the side and hook it up just right into the little holes and screw that side be4 the other one and you will be good to go,overall great product if u want your 360 to go.
Your probably better off using the tv thats in your mini van already or anything else besides this. Well unless your on the go pretty much 24/7 and your going to die if you do not get that last achievement for whatever game your playing i would not buy this. most motels/hotels have those. If the 360 is that important to you that you must play it at the very moment, just pack it up be patient and wait till you get to a TV thats about 15 inches bigger than this one. If your in your car or you have no TV and you really wanna destroy your vision by playing on an HD TV thats 9 inches big. Go for it.
